Laura J. Underwood
Laura J. Underwood is the author of several novels and numerous short stories in the fantasy field. Her work has appeared in various volumes of SWORD AND SORCERESS, Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine, TURN THE OTHER CHICK, BUBBAS OF THE APOCALYPSE, LOW PORT, SUCH A PRETTY FACE, Aoife's Kiss and many other anthologies and magazines. Her books include ARD MAGISTER (Yard Dog Press, 2002), CHRONICLES OF THE LAST WAR (Yard Dog Press 2004), and collections TANGLED WEBS AND OTHER IMAGINARY WEAVING (Dark Regions Press) and MAGIC'S SONG: TALES OF THE HARPER MAGE (Wildside Press). She has four other novels forthcoming. DRAGON'S TONGUE and WANDERING LARK from Meisha Merlin in 2006 and 2007, THE HOUNDS OF ARDAGH from Five Star Press in 2006 and her mystery novel collaboration with Selina Rosen BAD LANDS from Five Star Mystery in 2007. When not writing, Underwood is a librarian with the Knox County Public Library System. In her copious spare time (whatever that is), she has been known to hike, bike, play harp and guitar, embroider, string beads, study folklore, draw, meditate and play with swords. A former state fencing champion, Underwood now limits her swordplay to her writing, and to trading blade strokes and jibes with author Elizabeth Moon and others as a member of the SFWA Musketeers. She is an Active Member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.
